Monday morning 16 September was the day. Under the leadership of salvage officer Major Aalberts, the 'kick-off' was initiated. A professional meeting in which all participants of the aircraft salvage are required to be present and are told who does, what, where and when exactly, or should not do.

The salvage officer was supported by the EODD and finally by the BIDKL. Each 'discipline' then tells about the 'do`s and dont`s' during the excavation. Finally, ECG Air Branch project leader Coen Cornelissen had the floor. The meeting ended with a tour of the site, after which everyone was assigned their own equipment and general arrangements were made to support the salvage officer.

After all this information, everyone could go their separate ways to set up the site. And in the afternoon ... the machinist Antwan actually put the first shovels into the ground and the sieve started to turn. The head is really off now!
