According to the WSCS-OCE, persons entering the OCE work area should be in possession of the certificate Basic Knowledge OCE. Persons who do not possess this certificate may only enter the OCE work area when accompanied by at least an Assistant OCE expert. This exception is included in order to prevent that persons who only incidentally enter the OCE work area (for example supervisors) must necessarily possess the certificate Basic Knowledge OCE.

Persons who carry out supportive activities in the OCE work area, such as machinists and earthworkers, should therefore be in possession of the certificate Basic Knowledge OCE. In the WSCS-OCE, the OCE work area is understood to be the area within the detection zone where the organisation actually carries out the detection activities.

The level of Basic Knowledge OCE includes: basic knowledge of explosive substances & conventional explosives, basic knowledge of the approach and execution of projects according to the WSCS-OCE and knowing and correctly applying safety rules on OCE projects. The Basic Knowledge OCE exam consists of a theoretical exam of 25 multiple choice questions.

The current document End and test conditions Basic Knowledge OCE has been supplemented with the Plus part. This part is mainly about laws and regulations. It is an optional part that can be registered until the day of the exam.
